 Antisocial Personality Disorder is the thing that makes serial killers so brazen and apathetic. It is like their clockwork: It makes them tick. ASP is when a person feels no remorse for any of their actions. They live based on pure selfishness and what makes them feel good. They are fearless of any consequences. These dangerous killers diagnosed with ASP appear to be nice, friendly people at first sight. They can be extremely easy to communicate with and make a relationship with, but to them, the relationship one may share with them is meaningless. They can pick out the weaknesses in others and use those "soft spots" to benefit themselves in any way they choose. Researchers are ambivalent as to what causes this disorder. Most have come to a theory that past trauma has contributed to it as much asit genetically inherited. Most psycho killers' childhoods are cruel and involved some kind of abuse whether it be physical or verbal. Two examples to support the theory that past trauma aids in the acquiring of ASP are Charles Manson and Ted Bundy. Charles Manson, a notorious killer, was born November 12, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. His mother was only 16 years old when she gave birth to him and neglected him. Her name was Kathleen Maddox; she was promiscuous, a criminal, and an alcoholic. She went to jail in 1940. Ted Bundy was born November 24, 1946. His mother was Eleanor Louise Cowell. She was also just a girl when she had her son, so she convinced him that they were siblings. Her thought his grandparents were his biological parents. As an adult he referred to his mother as his mom and sister.

Richard Chase was known as the Vampire of Sacramento because he was not only a murder, he was a cannibal. He drank the blood of his victims. He was absolutely, positively 100 percent insane. He was abused by his mother as a child and became involved in alcohol and drugs when he was a teenager. One time he injected himself with rabbit blood because he was so obsessed with blood, and he believed it would sustain his life.

Serial killers with ASP are legally insane. They are not aware of their actions. Whether or not this is acquired over time or imprinted into their brain from day one, it is still the way they think. To change this, you would have to go into their genes to genetically change them.

 This quote pretty much explains itself. As much as people want to prove that ASP is either inherited or progressive, there is no way researchers can figure it out based on technology today. They can pick out clues such as cruel childhoods or mothers smoking while pregnant, which can cause ASP in the baby.

"The Giggling Granny" or Nannie Doss, grew up in an abusive home as a child. She was forced to work the fields by her father and dropped out of school just so she could get her chores done and wouldn't get punished. Her childhood was a great contributing factor towards her insanity as an adult.
